THE SOUL EXCHANGE – New album in June….

778876.jpg

The Soul Exchange is a band that mixes Classic Hard Rock with a contemporary Metal sound. They have taken influences from the 70’s Hard Rock scene and created their own unique style of Metal infused, guitar driven hard rock, with great attention to the melodies and grand vocal arrangements. The lyrics deals mostly with subjects from the darker side of life such as insanity and evil in various forms.
The Soul Exchange found their formula and sound with the line-up consisting of Daniel John (vocals & keyboards), Hans von Bell (guitars), Thomas von Bell (guitars), Patrik Ekelöf (bass), and Benny White (drums). Although mostly unknown to the wide public, all band members have long careers in the music business. They released the critically and likewise publicly acclaimed debut album “Bloodbound” in March 2017 on the Mervilton Records label and the five Track EP “Vow Of Seth” in December 2017 on the Pride & Joy Music label.
In the fall of 2017, the Swedish group began working on their 2nd full length release titled “Edge Of Sanity” that is penned for release on the Pride & Joy Music label on June 15th, 2018. It’s not a theme album per say, but lyrically all the songs have a common theme with lyrics that are metaphorical and treats the dark side of the human psyche. Musically the record is hard hitting and dark themed but not hard listening. Sonically ”Edge Of Sanity” is harder and darker than anything The Soul Exchange have produced in the past, but the trademark vocal arrangements and choruses are predominant, and grander than ever before.
In contradiction to the 2016 debut ”Bloodbound”, that was mainly written by Hans & Thomas von Bell with lyricist Jens Joel Evaldsson over a two year time span, all nine songs on the new effort were written in a very condensed period of time and a true team effort by Hans & Thomas von Bell, Daniel John and producer Magnus Ljungqvist with Daniel John taking over the full responsibility as the band’s lyricist. This has resulted in a much more coherent effort compared to the debut.

June 15, Nalen, Stockholm, Sweden

The song features international legends Steve Lukather (Toto) and David Garfield (CherRobin Beck) as very special guests on guitar and keyboards respectively. The digital cover artwork has been created by Aeglos Art (AirboundRaintimesRoom ExperienceCharming Grace).

Michael says: This Town Is Lost Without You” was the first new song I wrote for “Live Your Life“. Almost by co-incident I met David Garfield in Copenhagen and I asked him to join me on this track. I also asked him if he could call Steve Lukather and ask him to join us as well. I wasn’t really sure he was going to call him, but only a few days later David called me to let me know that he and Luke would do the session a few weeks later. That was a very good day. For the video I asked both my kids if they would appear in it. They accepted. That was an even better day! So it’s a very special song for me!

“Live Your Life” has been released on March 3, 2018 via Art Of Melody Music / Burning Minds Music Group in Europe, and April 13, 2018 via AnderStein Music in Japan.

ICE AGE – RELEASES NEW VIDEO FOR “CLEVER”

Sweden’s top tier 3/4 female metal attack ICE AGE have unleashed “Clever,” the new video from their GMR Music Group release Breaking the Ice. The band has teamed up with PureGrain Audio for the premiere.

Regarding the video for “Clever“, frontwoman Sabrina Kihlstrand says, ”We are incredibly happy to present our second video from our album Breaking the Ice. The video is directed by Berget Bergman (MMI,Reignsaw) and was filmed during our Scandinavian tour with Reignsaw and FKU. The song itself is about being let down by a friend from an ironic perspective.”

Formed in 1985 in Gothenburg, Sweden, ICE AGE took the metal world by storm, eschewing fashion for a collective punch to the throat.  The all female machine quickly earned the respect of magazine editors and fellow musos alike in their five year run.  In 1990 the quartet called it a day without ever recording an album, but selling thousands of copies of their demos, in effect making them legendary by proxy. and were even honoured as such a few years ago when the Big Four dedicated their entire show at Gothenburg’s Ullevi Stadium to the band.

As well as releasing the “Clever” video, ICE AGE will be performing at Muskelrock in Tyrolen, Sweden on 31 May where they will appear with Bullet, Manilla Road, Cirith Ungol and more.  June 2nd sees the band head to Pilsen, Czech Republic to take part in Metalfest Open Air 2018 to appear alongside Apocalyptica, Evergrey Death Angel and others.

The US power metal band Millennial Reign are back with their new album “The Great Divide”! The album features new members Travis Wills [vocals], Steve Nichols [drums] and Neil Bertrand [bass] together with founding member Dave Harvey [guitars].”The Great Divide” is the follow-up to “Carry The Fire”, the label debut for the Swedish label Ulterium Records. Since the release of “Carry The Fire” the band toured with Stryper on their “To Hell With The Devil 30th anniversary tour” as well as supported bands like Sonata Arctica, Leaves’ Eyes, Theocracy, Omnium Gatherum, Hammerfall and Joe Lynn Turner.

“The Great Divide” feels like a more focused and powerful album than its precursor and the new vocalist Travis Wills [Infidel Rising] really shines through the album with his raw and emotional vocals. Fast, catchy songs like “Break The Tide” and “Imagine” are mixed with epic songs like “Till The End” and “Wounds In Hand” and together they form a great collection of songs that should appeal to fans of US power metal and melodic metal.

“Evil Deluxe”, is taken from the album “Evil Deluxe”, which is due for release May 25th.
Nils Patrik Johansson (LION’S SHARE, ASTRAL DOORS, ex-CIVIL WAR), will release his first solo album “Evil Deluxe”, this spring on German label Metalville.
“I have thought about a solo album for ten years, but then CIVIL WAR came into the picture and I used all my ideas for the three albums that we did” Nils Patrik reveals.
“After my departure from them, I felt that I wanted to focus 100% on ASTRAL DOORS and LION’S SHARE. But all of a sudden inspiration came back – and from out of nowhere I had 10 new killer songs. It felt natural to hire my LION’S SHARE band mate, Lars Chriss as producer and guitar player. My son Fredrik Johansson play drums on the record, so finally father and son Johansson will appear on the same album.” Nils Patrik adds.
Other musicians on the album:
