Late Night’s music…Steve Lukather – Bridges

Few minutes after midnight this masterpiece released last year from the mighty Steve Lukather keeps me company!
Check it out and enjoy….

*description from his bandcamp page:

Over the course of five decades Steve Lukather has placed an indelible stamp on pop culture. Alongside his tenure as the only member of TOTO to never take a hiatus from the band, he has performed on thousands of albums as a session musician. Amongst these musical contributions are some of the most successful, influential and enduring records of all-time including Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Additionally, he released a memoir titled The Gospel According To Luke which was a global best-seller. He continues to be TOTO’s band leader, a long-tenured member of Ringo’s All-Starr Band, and a solo artist.

Luke’s ninth solo album, titled BRIDGES, could not be more accurately titled. He shares, “I see it as a bridge between my solo music and TOTO music. The fact that Joseph Williams, David Paich and I wrote most of the record, and the fact I invited many of the old ToTo gang to come and play, co-writers like Randy Goodrum and Stan Lynch brings all this together. It also proves that most of my old pals and I are still great friends, and I wanted to do a record ‘in the style of,’ as TOTO will never record another studio album. This is as close as we will get.”

Tracklist:

1. Funk Bone Jam
2. Same Sun Shines
3. Kung Fu Grip
4. Mystified
5. Brother Carlos
6. Gainesville Station
7. Soul Rider
8. Mirage
9. Heard You Were Gone
10. Across The Ages

Vinnie is considered one of the originators of shred guitar, and has released eight influential solo albums, and six albums and a LIVE DVD as a member of rock royalty legends UFO. He’s made countless album guest appearances, and has even recorded the soundtrack for a PEPSI TV commercial. He’s been a member of Alice Cooper’s band and was opening act for RUSH on their ROLL THE BONES tour with his own band. His solo and UFO recordings as well as LIVE performances have amassed rave reviews all around the globe from both fans and music press, catapulting  him into guitar icon distinction! He has been an inspiration for fans and guitarists worldwide.

Say’s Vinnie, “I have been touring all over the world extensively with UFO and my solo band for the past 16 years. I started this album a couple years back and have been working on it religiously between tours. It’s quite different than any of my others. It has elements of things I’ve done in the past, but has gone much deeper into certain areas. There is an overall sort of contrast between energetic upbeat songs, versus ballad-like soulful ones which has always been a big part of my style. There are some Jam elements in places too. This is likely the most emotional and soulful thing I have ever done. Very moody, with lots of feel”. “I wrote a song as a tribute to Carlos Santana, called BROTHER CARLOS, and another called GAINESVILLE STATION which is a tip of the hat to Steve Gaines. Both players were huge influences on me when I was learning to play, and continue to be now”.

“He’s hands down the greatest Moore since Demi, Roger, Dudley and Mary Tyler”, and the greatest Vinnie since Vinnie Barbarino.” – Johnny JizzleJam, Planet Guitar Gods Magazine

“When something moves me, what I am feeling flows directly into music. That’s how I deal with reality. I woke up one morning to the news that Chris Cornell had passed and it really hit me hard. I went into my studio, picked up a guitar and immediately wrote and recorded MYSTIFIED. Without intending to do so, and because of what was going on around me at the time, this album in a way became a tribute to people who meant something to me. The Allman Brother’s were always one of my favorite bands and I was working on a song called SOUL RIDER that was inspired by them. While writing it, unfortunately Greg Allman left us. A lot of heart went into recording that song. Also, I wrote a song called HEARD YOU WERE GONE for my friend and band mate Elliott (Dean Guitars) who left us unexpectedly a couple years back.”

“There are definitely some downhearted cathartic moments on this album, but they’re balanced out with songs like KUNG FU GRIP and FUNK BONE JAM that represent the opposite side of my personality, which is my constant joking and quirky sense of humor”.

Vinnie has done hundreds of shows all over the planet, including Europe, UK, Scandinavia, Brazil, USA, as well as India, S. Korea, Lebanon, Mexico, Russia, and Canada. The UFO “Last Orders” tour began in England in March, and will continue in the USA on October 9.

“Ancient astronaut theorists suggest that Vinnie may have been spawned from alien DNA! Or at least his left index finger anyway” – Giorgio Thessaloniki, Ancient Aliens

“Solo records are a great vehicle because the canvas is totally open and I can paint whatever and wherever I want. There’s total freedom in not having boundaries. All of my influences are on the canvas, from Rock to Blues to Be-Bop to Funk, even R&B and beyond. I have always felt music deeply even before I played guitar. After I began playing, it became my vehicle to express and release what I feel inside. I love channeling my soul into melodies and songs.”

TREMONTI – New album announced….

TREMONTI – TO RELEASE A DYING MACHINE WORLDWIDE VIA NAPALM RECORDS ON JUNE 8th

unnamed (6).jpg

Tremonti, the band comprised of Mark Tremonti on vocals/guitars, Eric Friedman on guitars, and Garrett Whitlock on drums, will be releasing their fourth full-length album, A Dying Machine, worldwide via Napalm Records on June 8th. Longtime producer, Michael “Elvis” Baskette, produced the album. The album is currently available for pre-order at: http://smarturl.it/ADyingMachine-NPR
From the militant drum assault of the album opener “Bringer Of War” to the instrumental closer “Found,” A Dying Machine is Tremonti’s most-diverse musical offering to date. Songs like “From The Sky,” “Throw Them To The Lions” and “A Lot Like Sin” are signature Tremonti that fans have come to love from the trio. Songs like “Trust,” “The First The Last” and “Desolation” take the listener to new places sonically, all backed by Tremonti’s signature vocal style. A teaser video with music from the album can be seen at: https://youtu.be/LbJNULY8R0w
A Dying Machine is the first concept album of Tremonti’s career and the music is inspired by a story that came to Mark while on the last Alter Bridge tour. During that time, the epic title track “A Dying Machine” was born. The story, which is being turned into a full-length work of fiction authored by Mark Tremonti and John Shirley, takes place at the turn of the next century where humans and fabricated beings called “vessels” are trying to co-exist. Tremonti and Shirley are working on finishing the novel to release alongside the record.

The track listing for A Dying Machine is:

1) Bringer Of War
2) From The Sky
3) A Dying Machine
4) Trust
5) Throw Them To The Lions
6) Make It Hurt
7) Traipse
8) The First The Last
9) A Lot Like Sin
10) The Day When Legions Burned
11) As The Silence Becomes Me
12) Take You With Me
13) Desolation
14) Found
Tremonti will be hitting the road in support of A Dying Machine. The band will be playing a record release show in Orlando on May 12th at the Social. They are also confirmed for Carolina Rebellion on May 4th, the Lunatic Luau on May 5th and will be playing a headline shows in Savannah on May 2nd and Atlanta on May 7th. The band heads over to Europe in mid-June for seven weeks of touring that includes dates as direct support for Iron Maiden alongside headline shows and European festival appearances. Full tour information and ticket purchase links can be found at http://www.marktremonti.com.
After two decades at the forefront of all things guitar, a GRAMMY® Award win, 40 million-plus units sold between Alter Bridge, Creed, and his eponymous Tremonti, and countless other accolades, Mark Tremonti once again summited an uncharted creative peak in 2018. For the very first time, the guitarist and singer crafted an immersive concept and accompanying novel for Tremonti’s fourth full-length album and first for Napalm Records, A Dying Machine. Since emerging in 2012, he and his bandmates—Eric Friedman [guitar, bass] and Garrett Whitlock [drums]—have built the foundation for such an ambitious statement. Their full-length debut All I Was bowed in the Top 5 of the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart and Top 30 of the Top 200. The 2015 follow-up Cauterize hit the #1 spot on the Top Rock Albums chart on iTunes when it was released. 2015 saw the frontman take home “Best Guitarist” at the Loudwire Music Awards just a year removed from his 2014 “Riff Lord” win at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods. In between sold out headline gigs and festival appearances everywhere from Rock on the Range to Shiprocked!, 2016’s Dust maintained that momentum. With A Dying Machine, Tremonti reaches new heights like never before.
